A few examples of how Arkeia Network Backup can be easily extended include the use of the command before/after feature which can launch scripts or system commands along with a backup job. Using this function, storage administrators can format application data prior to backup. The command after is used to "reset" the application environment. Arkeia allows a high granularity for target choice, so the command before/after can be applied on the entire backup job or to a specific component backup.

Object command feature get/push data from/to a command. For backup, Arkeia retrieves data from standard output of the command or script. For restore, the data stream is redirected to standard input. Ideally, your application supports dump command to be used with "Object command" to get data flow without any disk staging on the client side.
