Arkeia Software’s suite of backup-and-restore solutions, the Arkeia Network Backup suite, is delivered as a software application, physical appliance, or virtual appliance. Arkeia Software is the first data protection company to support all three modes of backup server deployment.

Cleanly architected, the Arkeia Network Backup suite supports heterogeneous deployments of software and appliances. Elegantly designed, operation is easily customized through the suite’s command-line-interface. Solidly implemented, the software supports 130 platforms, hot backup agents for a dozen databases, applications, and virtual machine environments, and virtually every tape drive and tape library on the market. Arkeia even supports cloud storage options.

Several common deployment scenarios have developed. Small organizations might deploy a single Backup Server with a dozen Backup Agents. Large organization might deploy one Central Management Server, dozens of Backup Servers, Backup Replication Servers, and many thousands of Backup Agents.

Users of database management systems and applications would deploy our hot-backup database agents and application agents. Organizations that need to back up virtualized environments would deploy a virtual machine agent.

As an alternative to tape, Arkeia Network Backup supports simple disk drives and virtual tape libraries (VTL), and allows replication of backup images across LANs and WANs. Rather than move physical tapes, Backup Replication Servers move data from one Backup Server to another, throttling its network usage to prevent network congestion.
