Supported Tape Technologies
Arkeia Network Backup and Arkeia Smart Backup support almost all tape drives available on the market including SCSI, USB, SATA and SAS. An exhaustive list of supported products and a detailed description of each item is continuously updated. If you do not see your Tape Technology being supported, please contact us.
Arkeia utilizes the automatic read-after-write capabilities provided by every tape drive that adheres to SCSI II specifications.
However, some vendors, in order to save production costs, have introduced very low-end tape drives that have no read-after-write head. To avoid problems linked to hardware dysfunction, Arkeia does not support these low-end drives.

Supported Disks and NAS
Backup to Disk
Arkeia Network Backup and Arkeia Smart Backup can perform backup to any disk device, from basic hard-drives to large SAN disk-arrays. Its Virtual Tape Library module is easy to configure via the graphical user interface and can complement a backup-to-tape strategy
NAS Support
Arkeia solutions are also compatible with a large range of NAS devices. On a general basis, Network Attach Storage boxes can be backed up by installing a native Arkeia client into the operating system (Windows SAK, Linux...) or using the pre-installed client, such as in the Sun Cobalt appliances.
Additionally, some NAS devices can include a SCSI card allowing the local connection of a tape device. In such case, an Arkeia backup server could be installed to protect the NAS system with a local backup. Arkeia tested and certified solutions include Netapp, Sun Cobalt, SnapAppliance, Quantum DX-Series Enhanced Systems, Sony, Iomega and others.
