"Arkeia is a backup application software supplier known mostly for their Linux product, but they also have a strong solution set for Windows and virtualized environments. They are adding deduplication to their offerings through the acquisition of Kadena Systems. [...] Arkeia makes the case that its sliding window technology offers the speed of fixed-block deduplication, because all the blocks are the same size, with the compression benefits of variable-block because it accommodates file changes due to byte inserts." Arkeia Network Backup v8.2 Available Now
v8.2 delivers new agents for Microsoft Hyper-V, Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL Server, all based on Microsoft’s VSS technology. New agents for Novell Groupwise, eDirectory and iFolder are also available, based on Novell’s SMS technology. Arkeia’s vStorage agent, is designed for VMware’s vSphere v4 environments and is currently In beta. The agent offers full support for VMware vSphere (any combination of vCenter, ESX or ESXi), as well as VMware Infrastructure 3.
