With Arkeia Network Backup version 8.2, Arkeia Software has improved and expanded upon it's already broad support for applications and databases with updates to Exchange, SQL Server, Novell, and VMware, and adds dedicated agents for Hyper-V, SharePoint, GroupWise, and eDirectory.

VMware vStorage Backup Agent

The VMware Backup Agent available with Arkeia Network Backup version 8.2 takes advantage of VMware's latest vStorage APIs to provide backup and recovery capabilities that were not possible with VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB).  VMware data protection becomes faster, easier to use, and more affordable with Arkeia Software's latest VMware Backup Agent.

VMware Backup Agent features include:

  • Block-level incremental image backups
  • LAN-free backup over SAN
  • File-level restores
  • Redirected restores

Microsoft Application Backup Agents

Arkeia Network Backup version 8.2 leverages the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to ensure transactionally consistent snapshot-based backups of Microsoft applications and databases. Arkeia Network Backup allows granular backup and recovery, giving administrators the flexibility to protect only what is needed, resulting in faster backups, faster restores, and reduced costs. Microsoft Hyper-V Backup Agent

Also leveraging the VSS API, the Hyper-V Backup Agent enables full system backups of multiple Hyper-V virtual machines with just a single agent. The Agent allows image-level backups that enable disaster recovery of virtual machines.  Since the Agent takes advantage of VSS snapshot technology, backups of virtual machines with VSS-aware operating systems are performed while files are open and applications are running with minimal impact. The Hyper-V Backup Agent supports both Windows and Linux guest operating systems.
