Arkeia supports nearly every open source platform on the market today no matter the flavor of the license. BSD, GPL, or CDDL; if you have an open source platform that needs to be backed up, you should be using Arkeia.
Arkeia is flexible because we believe in the open source systems that work for our customers. On the Linux platform, Arkeia supports nearly any tape device that runs on the SCSI subsystem using the st or sg module. This allows us a broad range of compatibility. No proprietary drivers that need to be installed from Arkeia, only standard open source configuration. The same is true for Solaris, where we rely on the sgen drivers for libraries. There are no drivers or module from a proprietary vendor to install, ever.
Currently supporting more than 100 Linux distributions and architectures. Arkeia Software not only supports the major Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Novell SLES and OES, Mandriva and Ubuntu, but also Debian, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Slackware, PCLinuxOS and Fedora, to name a few. Arkeia also supports the major BSD flavors, including FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD.
Finally, we recognize that most Linux environments co-exist with other technologies. So, unlike many pure open source backup solutions we provide robust support for commercial operating systems, applications and databases. We support most Windows operating systems, Mac OS X, AIX, HP-UX and Solaris to name a few. See our platform support to learn the full breath of our current Linux support.
