The Arkeia backup appliance provides simple, reliable and affordable data protection for remote offices and small / mid-sized businesses. The backup appliance is a complete backup solution that delivers Arkeia Network Backup software, integrated RAID for disk backup, connectivity for cloud replication, and an optional embedded tape drive. The backup appliance is ideal for offices without full-time IT resources, or for those that simply wish to simplify deployment and management.
Appliances of purchasing, configuring, and managing a backup server, a tape drive, and related management software. Arkeia engineers have tuned the combination of hardware and software to deliver maximum performance and reliability. The backup-optimized operating system runs only the necessary services, ensuring the highest level of performance and security.
Six Backup Appliance Models to Choose From
Six models (R120, R120-LTO, R220, R220-LTO, R320, R620) of the backup appliance are available with useable disk backup capacities (after RAID) ranging from 1TB to 20TB. Four offer field-upgradeable disk capacities. Two include internal LTO-4 tape drives.
External connectivity interfaces, including eSATA, SAS, SCSI, and 8Gb/s Fibre Channel, allow for field-deployment of additional tape libraries, autoloaders and/or virtual tape libraries (VTLs).

The Arkeia backup appliance features the robust award winning Arkeia Network Backup software, which protects virtual environments and over 200 physical platforms including Linux, Windows, AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Mac OS, Netware, and Solaris computers.
The backup appliance works seamlessly with all Arkeia Network Backup components, including Agents, bare-metal Disaster Recovery, Backup Replication, and Central Management Servers. vmOneStep Appliances
Beginning with Arkeia's x20 series appliances, all Arkeia appliances are vmOneStep. Each appliance includes the functionality of Arkeia's standalone vStorage Backup Agent. These appliances embed VMware's Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) libraries, licensed from VMware. Without any further software installation, you can include the backup of VMware hypervisors in your backup strategy managed by an Arkeia appliance.
Deduplication-Ready Appliances
All Rx20 models support Arkeia Progressive Deduplication™ technology and the license is included with R320 and R620 models. Arkeia's deduplication is truly global: it deduplicates data blocks across different servers, virtual machines and hypervisors, maximizing your backup storage reduction.
Disaster Recovery Appliances
All Arkeia's Rx20 series appliances feature pxe, dhcp and tftp servers automating the netboot of a server for automated system recovery; the target computer will boot on the appropriate Disaster Recovery ISO and starts the full bare-metal restore at the required Point-In-Time-recovery (PITR), based on the backups of the machine.
