Nashville Wire Products replaces Symantec with Arkeia Nashville Wire Products (NWP) chose the Arkeia R220 appliance as a replacement for its Symantec Backup Exec application to protect both its physical and virtual environments.

Arkeia VMware vStorage v5.1 Upgrade An updated version of Arkeia's VMware vStorage agent will be released this quarter. In addition to vSphere 5.1 compatibility, it will bring numerous enhancements and new features, including lan-free restore.

Arkeia Network Backup v10.0 Release CandidateA release candidate (beta-4) of Arkeia Network Backup v10.0 is expected later this month. Version 10.0 is packed with new features to make hybrid cloud backup easier and less expensive.

A Look at Hybrid Cloud Backup. Arkeia Hybrid cloud backup, backups that are stored first on a local appliance and then transferred to the cloud on the back end, has become a standard technology solution for cloud backup providers. It allows larger environments to be supported with minimal bandwidth.

Arkeia Doubles Storage Capacity of R320, R620 Backup Appliances. The appliances, 2U in height, will now support up to 48 terabytes maximum raw capacity, and capacity beyond the internal limit of 24TB is provided by Fibre Channel-connected, third-party disk arrays.

Neal Ater Joins Arkeia Industry Advisory Board. Ater was most recently CEO and president of data protection and archiving software provider Atempo, following the company’s merger with Storactive, where he was president and CEO.

"Going Green Does Pay for Itself" InfoWorld Study on Virtualization. Titled "The Efficient Agency," the report found that local and state government agencies throughout the United States realized returns from 134 percent to 269 percent on investments in server virtualization, document management, storage virtualization, and cloud computing.

Arkeia Software Announces vStorage Virtual Appliance. Arkeia Software has delivered the Arkeia vStorage Virtual Appliance which packages the Arkeia vStorage Backup Agent as a virtual appliance. The appliance can be rapidly deployed on any vSphere hypervisor and used to backup other virtual machines on that hypervisor or other vSphere hypervisors.

New Backup Agent for VMware vSphere 4.1. Arkeia’s agent uses VMware’s vStorage APIs and provides centralized, off-host, LAN-free backups of vSphere virtual machines (VMs).
